Wandsworth Autism Fayre and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities returns to Tooting Leisure Centre.
Founder Venessa Bobb of A2ndvoice set up the first Wandworth Autism Fayre in April last year. Three images from the event are shown below.
She was working in partnership with Wandsworth Family Information Services Parent Champions. The purpose was to launch their Wandsworth Disability Young Persons Card for 16 to 24.
A2ndvoice is a voluntary organisation. It brings together a diverse network of people. Parents, carers, professionals and autistic professional speakers get together with children and adults living, caring and working with someone with autism spectrum conditions (ASC) and related conditions.
The organisation brings a greater awareness and understanding of autism to all communities. It carries this out through group work, workshops and holiday stay and play sessions at Tooting Leisure Centre.
As part of the Autism Awareness Week, Wandsworth Community Funding and the London Community Foundation are partly funding the 2nd Wandsworth Autism Fayre on 25th April 2017.
Return to Tooting
It will return to Tooting Leisure Centre to engage families, adults and professionals with an array of artistic displays, workshops and a mini exhibition. It is taking place in collaboration with other local and national charities.
This year the Wandsworth Autism Fayre with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities service providers returns with a free conference and seminars that will take place in the Lola Jones Hall from 11.00am. Please check Eventbrite for more details.
More than 46 service providers will be present. There will be the opportunity to connect with specialists from early years to adults, Post 16, training and soft play, and there will be a bouncy castle for the younger attendees.
Awareness and acceptance
It will be an opportunity to raise awareness and acceptance within ASC communities and other overlapping of conditions. The event gives everyone a voice from across the spectrum, with topics including health and wellbeing, special educational needs, leisure and activities, cultural necessities and abuse.
