Brantwood, an independent specialist school and registered children’s home, offers innovative day and residential places for 7-19 year-olds with BESD, ASD, attachment disorder, ADHD and those deemed ‘hard to engage’.
Graded as ‘Good’ by Ofsted (2012) and set in safe grounds in a tranquil neighbourhood of Sheffield, Brantwood uniquely delivers the National Curriculum through the Practical Skills Therapeutic Education method. This was pioneered by Ruskin Mill Trust, whereby children and young people can study for nationally recognised qualifications, as well as developing their personal, social, vocational and living skills.
The curriculum also combines a holistic and inclusive approach to the development of the young person through Steiner Waldorf Education and a comprehensive range of individual therapies and medical support. This includes Speech and Language, Movement (Eurythmy), Massage, Art and Occupational Therapies.
The school provides small class sizes, engagement in cultural celebrations and promotes healthy nutrition and relationships.
Residential provision is set both within its central school location and the local community and provides consistency, warmth and positive role modelling that young people need to develop their living skills and full potential.
Students plan and actively engage in leisure and outdoor activities, community events and in preparing and cooking healthy, organic food.
