Gretton School is proud to announce that its residential provision has once again been rated Outstanding following a recent OFSTED inspection, marking the fourth consecutive year of this exceptional achievement.
Outstanding in every category
Gretton School is celebrating another remarkable achievement, as its residential provision has once again been rated Outstanding in every category following its latest OFSTED inspection. While the full school provision was judged Outstanding in last year’s inspection, Gretton’s residential provision is subject to an annual inspection rather than the typical three-to-four-year cycle for school provision, as it is registered as a Residential Special School.
The latest inspection took place from 28 to 30 January 2025, just before the February half-term, and the official report confirms that Gretton’s residential provision continues to meet the highest standards across all key areas:
- Overall experiences and progress of children and young people – Outstanding
- How well children and young people are helped and protected – Outstanding
- The effectiveness of leaders and managers – Outstanding
Growth and progress
This continued success reflects the exceptional progress young people make within the residential setting. The dedication and expertise of Gretton’s staff, who provide care, support, and encouragement rooted in relational practice, have been instrumental in creating an environment where learners thrive. This accolade stands as a testament to the school’s unwavering commitment to excellence and the well-being of its learners.
The report acknowledged the consistent growth and progress made by young people within the residential setting: “The actions of the school contribute to significantly improved outcomes and positive experiences for children and young people.”
‘Children are shown acceptance’
The report went on to state that, at Gretton, “children are shown acceptance” and “are safer because of staying at the school. Sharing of information and the strong, trusted relationships built with staff and leaders have meant that children are likely to make safer choices when they move on from boarding.”
A member of Gretton’s leadership team reflected on the report’s findings:
“To hear that the young people feel safe and that they can name someone to talk to when they need support fills me with immense pride in our team. Being called ‘inspirational’ is truly humbling – it’s what we all strive for as we help shape the future of our young people.”
This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering commitment of Gretton’s staff, the trust of parents and families, and the collaborative support of external professionals. Gretton School extends heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in this success.
