31st July – 7th August 2021
Hello everyone. Please see below all the activities that you enjoy should you book on this summer supported holiday.
Also expect the usual excellent food from our chef, Christine, comfortable accommodation at Adventure Lodge, Haytor, and lots of fun with our support team.
Discover the Depths of the Ocean
The National Marine Aquarium (NMA) is the UK’s largest aquarium, located in Britain’s Ocean City, Plymouth. It is run by the Ocean Conservation Trust, a charity dedicated to connecting people with the ocean.
Pony Trekking on Dartmoor
Cholwell Riding Stables is a family-run business that has been providing escorted rides and riding lessons on Dartmoor for nearly forty years.
Situated on the A386 between Okehampton and Tavistock, next to the famous ‘Wheal Betsy’ Silver Lead mine, they are perfectly located to ride straight out onto Dartmoor, so you can enjoy your whole ride on the moor and admire its breathtaking views.
Visit Lydford Gorge
The deepest river gorge in the South West, with a 30m high waterfall. The gorge is a great place for an adventure at any time of year. The wildlife, river, plants and trees enchant the senses each and every day.
Visit Castle Drogo
High above the ancient woodlands of the Teign Gorge stands Castle Drogo. Inspired by the rugged Dartmoor tors that surround it, the castle was designed and built by renowned 20th-century architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. Outside, the Lutyens-designed garden is colourful in all seasons, and there are miles of pathways to explore in the Teign Gorge, from along the bubbling river to Wooston hillfort, high above the gorge.
A Trip Down Memory Lane
Take the train on the South Devon Railway from Buckfastleigh to Totnes. With the backdrop of Dartmoor and beautiful Devon hills, The South Devon Railway recreates the golden days of travel between the 1930s and 1960s as it takes you on a trip back in time on a traditional Great Western Railway branch line, running from Buckfastleigh and Totnes Riverside.
A Day by the Sea
Spend a day visiting this coastal town. See the old harbour and spend some time on Blackpool Beach. Pass the afternoon on a river boat cruise.
Meeting Point
We will meet at the beginning of the holiday at Leigh Delamere West Services, near Chippenham, on the M4. From here we will transfer the guests to the accommodation, Adventure Lodge, in Haytor, Dartmoor. At the end of the holiday we will meet at the same place, Delemere West Services, where our guests will be collected by a family member or someone within their support network.
