Since 2011, Starjumpz has supported thousands of neurodivergent children and young people from its centres in Crowborough and Brighton, as well as in schools, homes and online.
Our expert team includes renowned consultant neurodevelopmental paediatrician Dr Georgie Siggers, and we provide gold-standard, compassionate assessment and therapeutic support that views the whole child from a holistic perspective, rather than just a diagnostic one.
We specialise in supporting autistic children, ADHDers, and those with dyspraxia, sensory processing differences, developmental trauma and complex mental health or attachment needs.
Many children we work with have overlapping neurodevelopmental profiles, such as autism and ADHD, a dual identification that is increasingly recognised and requires nuanced, integrated support.
Whole child, 360° assessments
At Starjumpz, we believe understanding the whole child is the foundation of effective support. Our 360° Neurodevelopmental Assessment is a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary process that explores each child’s strengths and vulnerabilities across all areas of development.
Following NICE guidelines and registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), our assessments meet the highest clinical standards. We offer formal identification of autism (including the PDA profile), ADHD, sensory processing disorder, dyspraxia and more.
We also assess for autistic burnout, which is defined as a severe and often debilitating condition that manifests as chronic exhaustion, a significant loss of skills, an overwhelming sense of physical and emotional fatigue, and an increase in autism symptomology.
Cat dog brain: understanding autism and ADHD together
In her recent article in Autism Eye Magazine, Dr Siggers introduces the Cat Dog Brain model – a new way of understanding the lived experience of autistic ADHDers. The “cat brain” craves calm, structure and predictability, while the “dog brain” seeks novelty, connection and stimulation. This internal tug-of-war can lead to emotional overwhelm, inconsistent behaviours and exhaustion.
Traditional approaches often support one aspect of neurodivergence while overlooking the other. The Cat Dog Brain model encourages caregivers and professionals to provide dual-informed support, with structured flexibility and personalised environments that honour the full neuroprofile of each child.
